First of all, welcome to THE LIGHTS!

Second of all, we have rules. =( Don't worry. I promise they won't be sigh-inducing. You've probably read all of this countless numbers of times on other RPG sites, but it can't hurt once more, can it?

THE RULES:

1.) RESPECT. This is the most we ask of you. Don't go out of your way to be rude to other members (out of character, at least) . Manners go a long way. Be flexible, be tolerant, and you'll be surprised what can happen. Discrimination against race, sexuality, posting ability, appearance, etc is absolutely positively NOT ALLOWED. So take it elsewhere, holmes.

2.) LITERACY. This is an intermediate to advanced site, and hopefully the posting will show this. There's no word limit on posts, but we'd like to see a few good paragraphs for intros, and encourage at least one hefty paragraph for replies. Writer's block is understood and inevitable, so don't freak out if you can't whip out more than a few sentences every now and again. Remember, just because you have a short post doesn't mean it's bad.

3.) ACTIVITY. But this one's a given. If you go through the trouble to post your character, why disappear before you even get started? Please only join if you can commit to the site. This means posting a few times a week. If you will be absent for a while, make it known on the Absentee Board, so anyone you're RPing with at the time will know why you're not replying to them.

4.) INVOLVEMENT. This isn't a rule so much as a pointer. Sometimes, members get caught up with themselves and the plots they create, and it might be leaving you feeling a little left out. We try not to let this happen, but our creepy teenaged obsessive brains won't let us. =( So the best thing you can do to remedy the situation? Get involved! Round up a few other members and brainstorm a plot of your own!

5.) FANTASY = NO. The Lights of New York is a modern-day, real-life roleplaying game set in plain old hustle-and-bustle New York City. This means no vampires, no wings, no mermaid tails, no ability to shoot fire from your nostrils. Sorry about that.

ALSO, please be aware. This site is rated MATURE. Anything is allowed in character. Swearing is abundant. Sex is gonna happen. Blood will fly. Drugs will be smoked. It isn't encouraged that you go into details, but we won't restrict your creative juices. Please be sure to put a warning in the thread title if anything questionable is going on.

ALSO ALSO, if you are new to proboards sites, or just at a loss of what to do here, please check out the help post by clicking here.

QUESTIONS? CONCERNS? SUGGESTIONS? Let them be known! Post them on this board or PM one of the active Admin.
